Weather Update: IMD predicts intense rainfall spell over Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand till October 8

New Delhi: Several parts of India are likely to receive heavy rainfall over the coming few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an intense rainfall spell is expected over Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand till October 8. Meanwhile, extremely heavy rainfall is predicted over these two states on October 7.

Heavy showers are also expected over r Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh during the next two to three days. meanwhile, the ow-Pressure Area over Westcentral Bay of Bengal & adjoining Andhra Pradesh has become less marked. As per the IMD, the associated cyclonic circulation now lies over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels.

Eastern states of India, including, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Odisha, are likely to receive heavy rainfall during the next few days. "Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely over Bihar and Chhattisgarh during 05th; Odisha on 05th & 06th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 05th, 08th & 09th; East Madhya Pradesh during 05th-07th and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and West Madhya Pradesh during 06th-08th October, 2022," the MeT Department said.

Heavy showers are predicted over several parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand till October 8. The weather agency in its press release said, "Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh during 06th–08th and East Uttar Pradesh during 05th–09th October, 2022."

Meanwhile, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand and several parts of Uttar Pradesh between October 6 and 8. Isolated extremely heavy falls are also expected over Uttarakhand and northwest Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Southern states of India, including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, are expected to receive heavy rainfall till October 9. The IMD said, " Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Tamil Nadu during 05th-09th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 05th, 06th, 08th & 09th; Rayalaseema on 05th, 08th & 09th; Telangana on 05th & 06th and Interior Karnataka on 09th October, 2022."

Isolated heavy falls with thunderstorms or lightning are also predicted over northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, over the next few days.
