When Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan's mythological drama Adipurush was announced, moviegoers were left super excited. However, when the teaser of the movie dropped online, it only attracted negative comments. The two lead actors, along with the makers of the film, were criticised for the VFX used in the film and slammed for 'showcasing Lord Ram and Goddess Sita in the wrong light'. Speaking at the ongoing Times Now Summit 2022, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, reacted to the whole controversy and stated that films release only after the Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) clearance, and that one should take their word as the final one.

ANURAG THAKUR ON ADIPURUSH CONTROVERSY

At the ongoing Times Now Summit 2022, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Anurag Thakur talked about the Adipurush controversy, among other things.
During a panel discussion, Rahul Shivshankar, Editor-In-Chief, Times Now, inquired about the recent controversy surrounding the Prabhas-starrer.
Reacting to the query, Thakur said that controversies happen before films' release but when the viewers watch the film, there is nothing in it. He added that it has happened multiple times before as well. "We need to understand why these controversies take place," Thakur shared.
The Union Minister further stated, "I can give a lot of examples, a lot of controversies erupt, but when you finally see the film, nothing comes out of it. One has to think about it."
"Itihaas ko dekhkhar kaise prastut karta hai (How one sees and then presents history), that has to be thought on," Thakur shared. He went on to add that many films court controversies before release, but when it was shown, sometimes even without editing, nothing happened.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur further added, "CBFC sees all aspects before taking a decision." He also shared that India is the world's largest producer of film, and added, "We have to understand that things we cannot explain in news, films can help us do that and tell the world about our culture and history."
Meanwhile, after the makers of Adipurush were trolled for the VFX used in the film and slammed by netizens for 'showcasing Lord Ram and Goddess Sita in the wrong light', the release date of the epic drama was moved to June 16, 2023.
