"The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change," as Dwayne Johnson likes to say. But let’s just say there’s time before this happens. A few hours, maybe? In the meantime, we'll have to make do with the new Black Adam poster, which Johnson debuted on his Twitter feed.
For years, Johnson has indeed been planning to unleash his anti-hero, Black Adam, on the world. Having shared scattered updates on the film for quite some time, this will be the first official trailer for the upcoming superhero film.
Before the trailer, Johnson released the first official poster for Black Adam, which you can see below.

Black Adam is based on the same-named DC Comics character. While Black Adam is usually Shazam's foe, the character played by Zachary Levi will not appear in this upcoming film. Rather, Black Adam will pit Johnson's ancient character against the Justice Society of America.
Atom Smasher is played by Noah Centineo, Hawkman is played by Aldis Hodge, Cyclone is played by Qunetessa Swindell, and Doctor Fate is played by Pierce Brosnan.
Black Adam was the very first champion of the wizard Shazam in the comics, and it's likely he'll be in the film as well. Before falling out of favour and being banished by the wizard, Teth-Adam became the hero of his native land, Kahndaq. The time has come for Black Adam to return to the present. And he has no hesitation regarding wielding his abilities in ways that some other superheroes would find objectionable.
For the unversed, the film has been in the works since 2017. The plotline of Black Adam vs. JSA was finally revealed at DC FanDome in 2020.
It's one of a slew of DC movies in the works, including a Shazam sequel, as well as films starring The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Batgirl.
