Assam: Cars and bikes worth Rs 1.5 crore burnt after fire breaks out at Benelli & Isuzu showroom in Guwahati

Isuzu cars worth Rs 1.5 crore and Benelli bikes of Rs 6-7 lakh value were burnt in the fire. The showroom employees claim a total loss of Rs 4-5 crore.

Guwahati: Vehicles worth over Rs 1.5 crore were burnt in a fire that broke out at a Benelli & Isuzu showroom in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday morning. No casualties were reported in the incident.
According to reports, Isuzu cars worth Rs 1.5 crore and Benelli bikes of Rs 6-7 lakh value were burnt in the fire. The showroom employees claim a total loss of Rs 4-5 crore.
The fire broke out in the showroom near Basistha area of Guwahati. While speaking to media, sales executive manager of the showroom said, "Isuzu cars worth at least Rs 1.5 crores burnt, while Benelli bikes worth Rs 6-7 lakhs burnt. Totaling with the property loss, we hit a Rs 4-5 crores loss."
As many as eight fire tenders were rushed to the site of the incident and after struggling for a while, they were able to douse the flames.
However, several vehicles stored in the backside of the showroom were saved from the flames due to the quick action of the fire department in bringing the fire under control.
The showroom reportedly belonged to Prag News owner Sanjiv Narain. The building was entirely gutted in the fire.
Officials who were present at the spot said the reason behind the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit. Moreover, a cylinder inside the premises also caught fire and exploded, spreading the flames further.
