Amid rise in COVID cases, Punjab govt's 5-point advisory to contain spread of infection

The advisory was issued by the Punjab government’s Department of Home Affairs to all the divisional commissioners and the deputy commissioners in the state, all the zonal IGPs, Commissioners of Police, DIGs and SSPs in the state and all civil surgeons. In its advisory, the state government said that it has been observed that many people are not following COVID appropriate behavior, specially wearing of masks.

Chandigarh: Amid a sudden rise in COVID-19 cases, the Punjab government on Saturday issued an advisory to officials directing them ensure wearing of appropriate masks in all educational institutions, government and private offices, malls and other public places.
The advisory was issued by the Punjab government’s Department of Home Affairs to all the divisional commissioners and the deputy commissioners in the state, all the zonal IGPs, Commissioners of Police, DIGs and SSPs in the state and all civil surgeons.
In its advisory, the state government said that it has been observed that many people are not following COVID appropriate behaviour, especially wearing of masks.
It also noted that the number of COVID positive cases, positivity rate and hospitalisation are showing an upward trend.
Following instructions arr being issued with immediate effect -
The state government directed that wearing of appropriate masks shall be ensured in all educational institutions, government and private offices and indoor/outdoor gatherings, malls, public places etc. for the prevention of further spread of the virus in the population and for the well-being of every individual.
It also said that COVID-19 appropriate behaviours should be be strictly followed like social distancing, respiratory etiquettes and no spitting at public places.
The government said that anyone having symptoms of COVID-I9 must get tested and follow COVID-19 protocol.
It instructed all hospitals, labs, collection centers offering testing for COVID-19 to upload details of tests including positive and negative results on COVA Portal of Government of Punish as well as intimate complete testing details to respective district and State COVID-I9 cell
The government said that those due for second dose and precautionary dose of COVID-19 vaccine must take it at the earliest.
