Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad residents will receive the Metro gift during Navratri. By the third week of September, the much anticipated rail services are anticipated to launch. Phase I of the project is nearly finished, and train trials along the North-South track have begun.
The last inspection will be carried out by the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner (CMRS) the following week. The CMRS crew is scheduled to arrive on August 20 and will inspect all 40 km of activities.
The Gujarat Metro Rail Service (GMRS) will have to complete the required papers once the inspection work is over in order to receive the final approval to begin the service.
According to Managing Director of GMRS S. S. Rathod, compliance of CMRS can take up to 15-20 days, and services are anticipated to start in late September. The monsoon has interfered with work. Each train must complete 320 km of trial runs before beginning genuine operations. Trial runs are now underway.
The project was supposed to be finished in 2021, but the Covid shutdown and other legal challenges caused a delay. The project has already cost more than Rs 12,500 crore. With the exception of the Walled City, where it runs underground, the train will run on elevated platforms. In the underground area, there are four stations: Kalupur, Shahpur, Gheekanta, and Kankaria East.
One of Phase 1's two corridors. According to Rathore, corridor-1 runs from the APMC to the Motera stadium, and corridor-2 runs from the Thaltej game to the Vastral game. Jivraj Park, Rajivnagar, Shreyas, Paldi, Gandhigram, Old High Court, Vijaynagar, Vadaj, Ranip, Sabarmati Railway station, AEC, Sabarmati, and Motera will all have stops along Corridor 1.
Corridor II, on the other hand, will pass through Thaltej Gam, Thaltej, Doordarshan Kendra, Gurukul Road, Gujarat University, Commerce Six Roads, S P Stadium, Old High Court, Shahpur, Gheekanta, Kalupur Metro station, Kankaria East, Apparel Park, Amraiwadi, Rabari Colony, Vastral, Nirant Crossroads, and Vastral Gam.
