The Okhi-90 also has a spacious 40-litres under-seat storage space and rides of 16-inch wheels. But should you buy this Okinawa electric scooter over Ola S1 Pro?

The premium electric scooter segment has been buzzing with new vehicles like Simple One and Ola S1 Pro of late. And now there is a new kid on the block - Okinawa Okhi-90. Launched in India a few days ago, the Okinawa Okhi-90 gets a price tag of ₹1.22 lakh (ex-showroom) after FAME II subsidies. It is the flagship electric scooter in Okinawa's portfolio and offers a riding range of up to 160 km per charge. Equipped with several modern features, the Okhi-90 is likely to be on the list of customers looking for a high-speed electric scooter. But does it make sense to buy the Okhi-90 over the Ola S1 Pro which is currently one of the best selling electric scooters in the country?

Okinawa Okhi-90 has the segment-best 40-litres of under-seat storage space as compared to 36-litres of space on the Ola S1 Pro. The Okhi-90 also offers 10 mm more ground clearance as compared to the Ola S1 Pro which has 165 mm of ground clearance. Another major difference between the two electric scooters is the wheel size. While the Okinawa Okhi-90 rides on 16-inch wheels, the S1 Pro has 12-inch wheels.

Okinawa Okhi-90, as standard, comes with an LCD instrument cluster but customers can upgrade to a coloured digital instrument cluster that offers all the necessary readouts. The Okhi-90 also has features such as telephony, turn-by-turn navigation key-less remote, regenerative braking, boot light, USB port, automatic key locking system, parking mode, Eco and Sports riding modes, and side-stand sensor with start inhibitor. Ola S1 Pro, however, is significantly more feature-rich as compared to the Okinawa flagship electric scooter. The S1 Pro has provisions such as a seven-inch touchscreen dashboard with customizable graphics and widget layout, built-in maps that offer real-time navigation, voice control for telephony and music control, cruise control, keyless start and lock/unlock, hill-hold control, reversing mode, geo-fencing, built-in speakers, and more.

Powering the Okhi-90 is a 3.6 kWh detachable battery pack that powers a 5 bhp (peak power) electric motor. The e-scooter has two riding modes - Eco and Sports - and can reach a top speed of 90 km/h. And as for the riding range, the Okhi-90 can cover 160 km per charge in Eco mode.

Ola S1 Pro, on the other hand, has a 3.97 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor delivering a peak power of 11 bhp. The scooter has three riding modes - Normal, Sport, and Hyper - and offers claimed riding range of up to 181 km on a single charge. Ola S1 can reach a top speed of 115 km/h.

Okinawa claims that Okhi-90's battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in an hour while completing charging the battery may take around four hours. In comparison to this, the S1 Pro's battery takes 6 hours 30 minutes to completely charge. However, fast charging can offer a range of 75 km in 18 minutes.

This tells us that Okhi-90 will take less time to completely charge as compared to Ola S1 Pro when charged via a conventional power socket.

The braking duties on the Okinawa Okhi-90 and Ola S1 Pro are tended to by front and rear disc brakes with combined braking system. The suspension setup, however, differs significantly. This comparison tells us that Okinawa Okhi-90 is more practical than Ola S1 Pro and claims to have an impressive riding range along with a competitive price tag. But it is not nearly as feature-rich as the Ola S1 Pro, a scooter than also claims to offer better performance and a longer range than the Okhi-90. But will you spend over ₹7k for the S1 Pro which will soon get a price hike in India?
