Actor Karthi is eagerly looking forward to the release of his forthcoming Tamil film Viruman, which hits the screens worldwide on Friday. As part of the promotions of the movie, Karthi was asked about the status of Kaithi 2, which was rumoured to be dropped. He clarified that the project is very much on.
Karthi said that Kaithi 2, which will mark his reunion with Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj, will mostly take off next year. A clip from the press meet interaction from Kerala yesterday went viral on social media.

In Kaithi, Karthi played a prisoner on parole to meet his daughter he has never seen. When he crosses paths with a cop, he’s forced to join forces with him and fight the drug lords who are after a cocaine consignment in police custody. The entire story unfolds in a single night within a span of four hours.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kaithi grossed over Rs. 100 crore in cinemas during its run.
The film was lauded for its tight screenplay and extremely well-choreographed fight sequences. It’s essentially a gripping thriller and a tribute to all the celebrated cop thrillers one can think of.
The project is now being remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn, and it’s titled Bholaa. In July, Devgn confirmed he will play the titular character as well as direct the project, which will also star Tabu in a crucial role.
