Mumbai: Woman killed and stuffed in a gunny bag, dumped in a drain; murder suspected

Police found the woman’s body stuffed in a gunny bag and dumped in a drain. Police suspect that she was murdered somewhere else and her body was dumped here. The police have found no identification on the woman and are collecting information about missing women from the area and across the city.

Mumbai: Police in Mumbai found the dead body of a woman stuffed inside a gunny bag and dumped in a drain in Kurla area here on Wednesday. The gunny bag with the woman's body was found dumped in Bunter Bhavan area of Kurla East, police said.
A police official from the Nehru Nagar police station said that the woman must have been around the age of 25-26. He further said that her hands and legs were tied with a rope and our preliminary probe points to the fact that the woman was probably murdered somewhere else and then her body was packed in the gunny bag and then dumped here.
According to the police the dead body was found after a passerby noticed the body and then immediately notified the police. The police reached the spot and began their probe, Times of India reported.
The police said that they did not find any identification proof on the woman. Therefore, they said as a next step they are collecting information about any missing woman complaints lodged from the area or other parts of the city and even across the state in an effort to find a lead in the case. That way the police also hopes to find the identity of the woman which can help them find the motive behind her murder and could lead them to the killer or killers.
The police have registered a case in this regard and have started their investigations. The woman’s body has been sent for post mortem to identify the actual cause of her death.
