Delhi's date with Monsoon likely between June 30-July 1; IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, UP

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on June 28 said that Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and several other states may receive rainfall in the coming days

New Delhi: As several northern states of India continue to face severe hot and humid conditions for the last few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into Delhi between June 30 and July 1. The weather office in its latest bulletin stated that conditions would continue to become favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into Rajasthan, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh during the same time period.
The weather department predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on June 30. The hill state is likely to get heavy rainfall on June 28 and 29.
The IMD predicted heavy rainfall in western Uttar Pradesh on June 30 and eastern Uttar Pradesh from June 29-30.
East Rajasthan is projected to experience heavy downpour on June 30 and July 1.
As per the lastet IMD bulletin, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning likely to occur over Madhya Pradesh on June 29.
Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha region likely to receive rainfall from June 28-20.
Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Odisha from June 30 to July 2.
Jharkhand may receive heavy downpour on June 29 and 30, while Bihar may receive heavy rainfall on June 30.
"Isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over Bihar on 29th and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 28th. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Bihar on 28th and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 29th June, 2022," the IMD stated in its release.
The IMD said that Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala Mahe may experience scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall predicted over Gujarat region during June 30-July 2, while south interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana may receive heavy downpour over the next 3 three days.
