Contact police if someone threatens you for posts on Nupur Sharma; identity to be kept secret: Amravati Police

Mumbai: Amravati Police have appealed to people to contact the nearest police station if someone threatens them directly or indirectly over their social media posts supporting now suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Amravati Police Commissioner Arti Singh said that the details of the complainant will be kept confidential.
Meanwhile, Amravati Police detained four people for making threat calls to people who posted social media posts in support of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Officials are questioning the detainees, Nilima Araj, Police Inspector, City Kotwali PS, Amravati said.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on July 5 took over probe into the murder of chemist Umesh Kolhe from the Amravati Police.
Shaikh Irfan Shaikh Rahim is said to be the mastermind behind the killing of Umesh Kohle.
Seven accused have been arrested so far in connection with the sensational killing, The accused are Muddasar Ahmad (22), Shahrukh Pathan (25), Abdul Taufiq (24) Shoaib Khan (22), Atib Rashid (22) and Yusuf Khan (32) and alleged mastermind Shaikh Irfan Shaikh Rahim.
On June 21, a group of three men attacked the Amravati-based chemist with a knife at around 10 pm and 10:30 pm. He died during treatment at hospital.
Kohle had supported Nupur Sharma on social media, who stoked massive controversy by commenting on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate in May.
Amravati Police Commissioner Arti Singh had conformed that the city police had found inks between social media posts supporting Nupur Sharma and Kolhe's murder during the investigation.
The Amravati top cop also said that three more residents of Amravati were threatened and made to apologise by some people for supporting Sharma on a WhatsApp group.
"Some videos have gone viral. We have information that three people had received threats. we are investigating suo motu. We are also investigating these videos and Whatsapp screenshots," she said.
