A record was recently set in Indian cinema by the cast and crew of the movie Dhak Dhak, which follows the trip of four ladies up the highest motorable pass in the globe. In order to reach Khardung La, the highest motorable pass in the world, the Dhak Dhak team has now completed the journey from Delhi as the first Hindi film crew. Following their arrival at Khardung La, the four leading ladies—Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanjana Sanghi—pose together.
The team completed the challenging Ladakh itinerary while battling harsh weather, including torrential rain, sandstorms, and temperatures varying from 48 degrees to -2 degrees.
Dia Mirza reminisced on the experience and expressed gratitude to her team and the Indian Army for facilitating a positive outcome. She also said, “The most memorable instance for us as artists on this film was making it to the Khardung La pass! It holds such deep significance to each of our characters in the story and each one of us felt it."

Fatima Sana Shaikh said she was particularly looking forward to this schedule because she enjoys riding her bike, but the experience exceeded her expectations. She said, "This journey pushed my limits, personally and as an actor. It was an unbelievable and exhilarating experience to shoot there (Khardung La) and by the end of it I know that I’ve learnt so much more about myself as a performer and a person.”
If someone had told Ratna Pathak Shah six months ago that she would be riding a bike all the way to Ladakh at the age of 65, she would have laughed. The actress described the voyage as an unexpected journey. She continued by saying that the movie held a unique place in her heart because it taught her to put her team, her coworkers, and herself first under challenging circumstances.
Sanjana Sanghi said, "Being on the road for weeks had been a transformational journey, culminating at the breathtaking Khardung La pass. It’s been challenging and physically grueling, yet tremendously satisfying.”
The Tarun Dudeja-directed film Dhak Dhak will release in theatres in 2023.
