Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar is undoubtedly making her parents proud with the kind of work she is doing on-screen. Being a daughter of two great stars - Supriya and Sachin Pilgaonkar, she has seen struggle and faced rejections. She believes that ‘good work brings good work’ and some of the directors she dreams to work with will one day spot her.
For Shriya, it’s not about the platform where she is performing but it’s the content that has the weightage. Speaking exclusively with Times Now Digital, she spoke in length about the learnings she received from her parents about the industry. Being a star kid herself, she admitted that it’s important to “acknowledge the privilege” but according to her, “audience plays an important role in keeping you in the position you are in” because “taali do haath se bajti hai”.
Shriya revealed that her parents gave her the emotional understanding about the showbiz as “it is an uncertain place to be in”.
Adding more on the same, she said, “They are not only my parents but they are also artists. We do have a lot of conversation about a lot of things. If they like my work, they will talk to me about it and if they have a critical feedback, they will be honest about it. They gave me a good emotional understanding about the industry. You have to be strong because it’s an uncertain place to be in. There will be good phases as well as bad phases, so you have to be mentally strong. That is more important to them than anything else. They are proud of sort work I am doing. Being a star is not in my hands but being a good actor is in my hands.”
“If actors’ children want to be actors then it’s very natural. I believe you can get several opportunities but at the end of the day, it is your skill that makes you survive in the industry. So, it is important to acknowledge your privilege but audience also plays an important role in keeping you in the position that you are in. Taali do haath se bajti hai,” she concluded.
Shriya will be next seen in the web-Series The Broken News, co-starring Sonali Bendre and Jaideep Ahlawat. The show is set to premiere on Zee 5 on June 10.
