Vivek Agnihotri has always been someone who is rather outspoken and does not mince his words. The filmmaker never shies away from speaking his mind and always makes sure that he says what he believes in. In his recent interview, he spoke about how actors like Sridevi, Jitendra, among others, all made it big though they were outsiders but their children then came into films and it lead to Bollywood becoming a 'very close-knit kind of a mafia'.
Vivek continues to receive a lot of love for one of the highest-grossing Hindi films from 2022 - The Kashmir Files. He spoke to Brut India and said how Bollywood used to be different and he thinks pre-2000, it was a different place because most of the people were outsiders. He added how the actors who became big stars by 2000, their children then came and then slowly it became a very close-knit kind of a mafia, and they have some problems with outsiders.
Vivek added, "I don’t know why. And that’s why they are suffering also."
Meanwhile, he further spoke about how celebs from the Bollywood families closed the doors for others and added that they started to destroy careers of talented outsiders. He went on to say how a doctor’s son becoming a doctor was very natural but in Bollywood, the filmmaker said that stars were pushing incompetence due to the nepotistic nature of the industry.
He highlighted how there was no nepotism before 2000 and how Dharmendra was an outsider, Rajesha Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, etc, name any actor and heroes and heroines, they were outsiders but when they became successful, their children came, then directors' children came, etc. He added how he doesn't have any problem but it is a problem when one pushes incompetence.
