'Muslim mob tried to disturb Garba function, attacked temple': Police on Kheda stone pelting

A Muslim mob of nearly 200 people tried to disturb the Garba celebrations in in Kheda's Undhela village on Monday night, police said. The mob hurled stones inside a temple and also damaged a car.

Nadiad: A Muslim mob of over 200 people tried to disturb the Garba function in Kheda's Undhela village last night, DSP Nadiad VR Bajpai said on Tuesday giving update on the violence that was reported a night before.
Garba festivities in Gujarat have been marred by clashes and violence, with incidents being reported from various parts of the state. At least six persons were injured in Kheda after mob attacked revellers on Monday night.
Speaking on the incident, Bajpai said that stone pelting was reported during the celebration and sarpanch's car was also damaged. He added that a Muslim mob tried to cause disturbance and they also hurled stones inside a temple.

"A Muslim mob tried to disturb the Garba function in Kheda's Undhela village last night and pelted stones. Sarpanch's car was damaged and stones were also hurled inside the temple," Nadiad DSP said.
He said that there were around 150-200 people and 43 of them has been identified and booked.
"There were 150-200 people, including women, in the mob. Sarpanch has identified 43 people and gave a complaint against them. Around 10-11 accused have been detained for interrogation," he added.
Earlier, DSP Kheda had said that the mob was led by two people, identified as Arif and Zahir.
"During Navratri celebrations in Undhela village last night, a group led by two people named Arif and Zahir started creating a disturbance. Later they pelted stones in which 6 got injured," he had said.
