NEP 2020 is a philosophy, not just a document: Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at NIT Rourkela's 19th Convocation

National Institute of Technology, NIT Rourkela organised its 19th Convocation today for the graduating Class of 2021. For the first time every, NIT Rourkela awarded its students with blockchain digital degrees along with their physical degrees. National Institute of Technology, NIT Rourkela organized its 19th Convocation today, August 13, 2022 for the Class of 2021. For this ceremony, the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan was the Chief Guest. During his address to the students, Minister Pradhan stated that NEP 2020 is not just a bunch of documents, but is a philosophy.
Along with physical and paper degrees, NIT Rourkela awarded its graduating students with ‘Blockchain-based Digital Degrees’. Minister Dharmendra Pradhan awarded the degrees to the students present at the convocation.
During his address as the Chief Guest, the minister started by giving a special mention to the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, which kickstarted today onwards. He also stated the importance of education and went out to mention that NEP 2020 is not just a document, but a philosophy that India needs to adopt.
Minister Pradhan further added that the purpose of NEP 2020 is to advance India towards literacy and create an education system which is suitable and compatible with each and every citizen of India. “In 2022, 27 crore people, which is around 20% of India’s population still remains illiterate,” he stated.
He further explained the major philosophies behind the National Education Policy 2020 which were to decolonise the mindset of Indian, introduce local language learning and multidisciplinary nature of education.
While emphasisng on the philosophy of decolonisation, Minister Pradhan praised NIT Rourkela for adopting an Indian dress code for its 19th Convocation ceremony.
