During the pandemic itself, the domestic travel industry saw a huge surge in Indians visiting local beach destinations such as Goa, Alibaug and Kerala. This trend is still going strong post and as a result, we are seeing rapid growth in beachwear and swimwear sales in the country.

As the beach culture is gaining popularity in India, resort wear as a category is gaining traction and new brands are popping up every month. Previously limited to designers doing small capsule collections in between seasons, the market now has a wide range available from high-end established brands to small, independent designers.

The holiday months are just around the corner and we bet you've begun planning your trip and the things that you need to carry in your carry-on luggage. We went on to chat with Alysha Vazirally, Founder of Sioli Resort Wear who went on to share the growing fashion trends of the season and all the things that you need to carry to look like a fashionista.

- Starting with crochet, you can choose from bucket hats and cute swimsuits to halter tops or fun beach pants. Crochet is summery and breathable and easy addition to any wardrobe.

- Flowing maxis are all the rage on the beach this summer – it’s about making a bold fashion statement with minimal effort. I strongly recommend choosing a design with these fun tones for a pop of colour. Another strong trend making a comeback are beach kaftans. No longer just a simple cover-up, they have evolved to make a strong fashion with lots of fluidity and movement and pair it with gold flats on the beach or ultra-high Plexi heels for the beach club.

- Finally, you can’t plan a trip to the beach without a big bag to put everything in, from sunblock and tanning oil, to a fun towel to lounge on and a good book to read.

- My favourite way to carry all my beach paraphernalia is a giant tote. From straw to linen, customized with your initials or with fun embroidered quotes, the options are endless. A fun but practical way to be fashionable.
