When Kareena Kapoor angered Suriya fans claiming she 'didn't even know' who he was

The actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Suriya don't need an introduction, unless perhaps they do - rather to each other. Suriya's fans were furious in 2014 when Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan said she didn't know him and ended up not acknowledging him either.

When Suriya's Anjaan was set to hit theatres in 2014, reports that Kareena had been approached for a special dance scene in the film were rampant. When she was questioned about it, she asserted that this was untrue because she didn't even know who Suriya was.

“I don’t know where such baseless stories come from. I haven’t signed any such film. I don’t even know who Suriya and Linguswamy are. I’ve never seen them. I’ve zero interest in acting in non-Hindi films. Whether it is down South or in Hollywood. I love the work being done in South Indian languages, Marathi and Bengali. But I’ll have to learn these languages” she said, as quoted by DNA.

She later clarified her comment and explained what she meant when she said she didn't know him.

“It is a fact that I don’t know him. I’ve never met him, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know who Suriya is. Of course I know him. He’s a big star in Tamil cinema, in fact one of the biggest. I truly respect his standing in the Indian film industry.”

Speaking of their professional endeavours, Kareena will next be seen alongside Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha, whereas Suriya was most recently seen with actors Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi in their most recent film Vikram. Furthermore, the first look of #Suriya41 was unveiled on Monday along with the title Vanangaan.
