Darlings, features Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma and Shefali Shah is only a day away from its release. The movie's trailer opened up to rave reviews and has been the talk of B-town, with everyone praising the team. While it is a first for Alia as a producer, the movie has multiple shades to it, including that of darkness and humour.
Vijay Varma, who plays the role of Hamza Shaikh, got talking to Times Now Digital as to how did he find a balance between the humour and darkness while shooting for the film. To this, the Gully Boy actor has quite a well thought response.
Vijay tells us, "The character and the dynamics of different characters, their relationships are very twisted and convoluted. At the same time, it is rooted in a certain kind of reality. The fine balance which we were aiming at was to kind of say it in a way that makes people relate to what is happening, so that they identify the ongoing event on the screen and relate to something they have probably seen or heard or felt, without making it a painful experience."
He further went on to add, "Sometimes, when you are showing a very tragic occurring on the screen, it can make the audience a little bit scared, a little bit reluctant to go on, so we wanted to bring certain kind of quirks to the character, bring them so close to reality that sometimes very real things are really funny, like just the way people are, makes you chuckle."
Further, the Darlings actor said how as an actor, he feels if one understands the graph of the script and what they are supposed to do - if you are supposed to instill fear in this moment, you go all out, you do it so convincingly that people are gripped with fear when watching it.
He concluded by saying how that is what he's done. He said, "I managed to kind of do something in that direction, so whatever I am supposed to do in that moment, I did it."
