Jaipur: Setting an example of communal harmony, a Hindu family avoided a major accident during a Muharram procession after a fire broke out on a 'tajiya'. Interestingly, the incident happened just a few metres away from the tailor shop, where Kanhaiya Lal was brutally murdered by two Muslim youths on June 28, 2022.
The incident happened when Muslims were taking out the Muharram procession and the top of a 25-feet high tajiya caught fire while passing through Mochiwada street in Rajasthan's Udaipur.
The Muslims participating in the procession did not notice the fire, however, the people who were witnessing the march from their balconies noticed it.
According to the police, Ashish Chowadia, Rajkumar Solanki and their family members noticed the fire and immediately started pouring water on the structure till the flames were doused.
District Collector Tara Chand Meena praised the Hindu families and said that the particular incident is an example of communal harmony
"Not only was the incident averted, but it also became an example of communal harmony. This incident has won everyone's heart," Meena said.
The Muslims thanked the Hindus for dousing the fire.
Police officer Shipra Rajawat, who was present in the locality during the Muharram procession, said the fire was probably caused by a short circuit or sparks from the incense sticks.
