Panchkula: Govt primary school teacher arrested for assaulting minor student; gets bail

Panchkula: A teacher at a government primary school in Punjab’s Majri village was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a juvenile student.
The man, who was charged on August 9, surrendered at Panchkula's Sector 2 police station on Tuesday. The teacher was then arrested and brought before a local court. He was granted bail by the court.
According to reports, the event occurred on August 5 within the school grounds and was recorded on CCTV cameras. The footage of the incident later went viral on social media, causing widespread public outrage, The Indian Express reported.
The apprehended suspect was identified by the police as Ravinder Kumar (41), a native of Baliyana village in Bhiwani, Haryana, who was temporarily staying in Sector 26, Panchkula. Kumar had been sent to the Majri village primary school as a Junior Basic Training teacher.
The CCTV footage shows the teacher repeatedly slapping the juvenile girl, who is dressed in her uniform and holding her school bag. Kumar is also seen bringing the minor back inside, another CCTV footage showed, IE reported.
On August 9, the police arrested the teacher at Sector 5 Police Station under Sections 75 and 323 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, after receiving a complaint from the juvenile girl's father, who is an auto-rickshaw driver.
