Virat Kohli's heartwarming gesture for the team has won hearts as he sacrifised his half-century during the Guwahati T20I between India and South Africa. Kohli was batting on 49 but was spotted telling Dinesh Karthik to keep strike for the entire over and try hitting as many boundaries as possible.

During the last over of India's innings, Kohli was just one-run short of his half-century and fans were eagerly awaiting the moment that the ex-Indian captain reaches his half-century. However, Kohli put the needs of the team first and was spotted telling Dinesh Karthik to continue hitting boundaries and not think about giving him the strike in a video that has gone viral on social media. Kohli has earned a lot of praise from fans for his gesture which led to him missing a record-extending half-century.

Talking about the match after the Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to field first, India had a dream day with the bat as they put a massive total of 237 on the board which is the highest-ever a team has managed in the shortest format against South Africa.
Vice-captain KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma gave Team India the perfect start with a 96-run opening stand. While Rohit played a solid knock of 43 in 36 balls, it was Rahul who stole the show by making 57 runs in just 28 balls. Suryakumar Yadav picked up from where Rahul left and got to his half-century in just 18 balls. He ended up making 61 runs in just 22 balls before being run out.
Kohli remained unbeaten on the crease with a 28-ball 49 in a knock that included seven boundaries and one six. By virtue of this knock, the Indian batting talisman became the first Indian to make 11,00 runs in the shortest format of the game. Karthik finished the innings by making 17 runs in just 7 balls.
