2022 Mahindra Scorpio launched in India, starts from ₹11.99 lakh

Mahindra has announced the introductory ex-showroom prices of both variants of the updated Scorpio Classic SUV. It will be sold alongside the newly introduced Scorpio-N, which is positioned above the Classic as a premium SUV. Overall the Scorpio Classic might look the same as before, but subtle functional and aesthetic updates certainly amp up its premium quotient as well.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic has been launched in India. It is available in two trim levels - Classic S and Classic S11. The ex-showroom price for the base model starts from ₹11.99 lakh, while the top-spec model is priced at ₹15.99 lakh (ex-showroom price).
The Scorpio Classic will be sold alongside the Scorpio-N, but the latter will slot in above as the more premium offering. However, that doesn’t mean that the Scorpio Classic will be bare-boned. There are several subtle updates available with the new SUV, both aesthetically and functionally that has amped up its premium quotient as well.
For starters, the front of the Scorpio Classic is highlighted by a new six-slat grille design with the new twin-peak Mahindra logo in the middle. The front bumper has also been updated, while the side profile continues to remain the same with distinct body claddings. As for its rear, the Scorpio Classic gets new LED tail lights and a distinct spoiler completes the design. Mahindra is also offering the Scorpio Classic with a new Galaxy Grey exterior colour option, aside from the regular Red Rage, Napoli Black, Dsat Silver and Pearl White options.
Taking the premium quotient further, the Scorpio Classic now features a new two-tonne beige-and-black interior theme, complete with a Classic wood pattern console and premium upholstery. The dashboard also features a new 9-inch infotainment screen, along with 2nd row AC vents and armrest on the front seats as some of the other highlights in the Scorpio’s interior.
Mechanically, the Scorpio Classic will be powered by the same Gen2 mHawk engine that also does duties in the Mahindra Thar and Scorpio N. It produces 130 hp and 300 Nm of torque and the engine comes mated to a new shift-by-cable 6-speed manual gearbox. Suspensions have also been enhanced in the Scorpio Classic with the MTV-CL technology that should handle body-roll better.
