Bhagalpur (Bihar): A man allegedly tried to kill his wife by pouring kerosene and setting her on fire as she opposed his extra-marital relationship in the Nathnagar area in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar on Thursday morning.
The woman somehow managed to escape the attack, reached the SSP office with her two children, and narrated the ordeal.
As per TOI reports, the victim Pushpa Devi had a scuffle with her husband Rajesh Kumar after she resisted his illicit relationship. Following this, Rajesh allegedly poured kerosene on her and tried to burn her alive.
The woman said in her statement that her husband rarely came home and often assaulted her and the two children. She also said that she earlier approached the panchayat many times for their reconciliation, but Rajesh does not listen to anyone. Pushpa further claimed that he did not even give money for the education of their children and household expenditures.
After hearing the woman’s ordeal, the SSP office called the Madhusudanpur police in-charge and directed him to take action by registering the complaint of the woman, reported TOI.
Mahesh, in-charge of Madhusudanpur OP Police Station told TOI that on the basis of the statement of the victim, they registered a case at around 6 pm. “The matter is being investigated and the accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
