Netizens along with film critics were upset after the Gujarati film Chhello Show is named India's official entry for the Oscars. Gujarati film Chhello Show (Last Film Show) is India's official Oscars entry. The Film Federation of India, which made the announcement on Tuesday (September 20), also faced backlash on social media for sending a Gujarati film as the official entry of India for the Oscars and not SS Rajamouli's RRR.
Many film critics along with netizens took to social media to call out the decision of the Federation of India. While many called the decision "ridiculous", film critic Sumit Kadel tweeted that with Chhello Show as India's official entry, there is "zero chance of getting nominated, forget about winning".
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh also tweeted, "Not #RRR. Not #TheKashmirFiles... #LastFilmShow [#ChhelloShow] is #India's official entry to the #Oscars... OFFICIAL POSTER..."

However, it seems like there is still a chance for Ram Charan and Jr NTR-starrer RRR to get nominated. Yes, you read it right.
As per the trade analyst and film critic Ramesh Bala, the SS Rajamouli-starrer can be nominated for mainstream categories except for the Best International Film category as Chhello Show has already been nominated in that category.

He wrote on Twitter, "A country's official entry is needed only for the "Best International/Best Foreign Film" category. Like #CrouchingTigerHiddenDragon or #LifeIsBeautiful or #Parasite #RRRMovie can be nominated for mainstream categories except Best International Film."
In a major upset, Chhello Show defeated The Kashmir Files and RRR in the Oscars race. Many were expecting two films - RRR and The Kashmir Files - as India's official entry for the Oscars.

Talking about Chello Show, it had its world premiere as the opening film at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Festival and has even won multiple awards across various international film festivals, including the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain, where it also had a successful commercial run at the theatres.
