Rajasthan: Youth drowns in pond while attempting to retrieve cellphone

A 25-year-old man drowned in a small pond while attempting to retrieve his mobile phone. The incident occurred in Darbari village of Jaisalmer on June 24 evening.

Rajasthan: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old man drowned in a small pond while attempting to retrieve his mobile phone. The incident occurred in Darbari village of Jaisalmer on June 24 evening. Despite being taken out with the help of divers, he was declared dead at the hospital.
All the attempts of the divers, including the villagers to rescue him went futile, TOI reported. The deceased has been identified as Sayeed. He married a year ago.
According to city SHO, Girdhar Singh, in an attempt to fill the small pond with the help of a small tanker, the deceased went inside. His mobile phone accidentally fell in pond and in an attempt to retrieve his mobile phone, he jumped inside the pond and drowned. “This is a clear case of accidental drowning. With the help of local villagers and divers, the body was recovered. Later, the body was sent for an autopsy to Jawahar Hospital,” said SHO.
Recently, in Rajasthan’s Kota, three teenagers drowned in a village pond in Bundi district as they ventured in deep waters while bathing. Another boy, who was with them, managed to somehow swim to the pond’s edge and inform their parents about the incident. All four boys were cousins.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, police rushed to the spot and rescued the three children from the pond with the help of the locals and rushed them to a hospital in Hindoli. At the hospital, doctors declared the three cousins dead.
