Actor Ranveer Singh left the nation divided over his latest nude photo shoot for a magazine cover. While many came out in support of him, some criticized him for the same. On Thursday (July 28), a complaint has been filed against the actor before the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. Earlier, an FIR has also been filed against the actor for "hurting sentiments of women".
Now, actress Vidya Balan came out in support of the actor and her witty reply will win hearts instantly. She recently attended the book launch of Kubbra Sait's biography - Open Book: No Quite a Memoir, in Mumbai.
During the media interaction, Vidya was asked about her reaction to Ranveer's nude photo shoot, which has stirred up controversy, following FIR and a complaint before the Maharashtra State Commission for Women.
She said, "What is the problem in that? This is the first time a man has done something like this. Let us also feast our eyes.”
Reacting to the FIR, she said, "Maybe they don’t have much work to do and that’s why they are spending all their time on all this. If you don’t like it (the photographs) close the paper, or throw it away, do what you want, why get into FIR ka chakkar?”
Several Bollywood celebrities came in support for Ranveer Singh. A few days back, Alia Bhatt reacted to the same and said, "I don’t like anything negative said about my favourite Ranveer Singh. I cannot even tolerate this question. I love him. He will be eternally favourite to everyone of us actually, and he has given us so much at the movies, so we should only give him love.”
For the unversed, The FIR against Ranveer has been registered under IPC section 292 (obscenity, sale or exhibiting publicly material for sale), section 293 (sale of obscene objects to young persons), and section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of women).
Meanwhile, on the work front, he has interesting projects in his pipeline. He will be next seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani alongside Alia Bhatt. He also has Rohit Shetty's Cirkus in his kitty.
