Even though Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Ayan Mukerji have been at the forefront of Brahmastra, one cannot not mention Karan Johar when speaking about the film. In a way, Karan has been the pillar of strength for the entire team of the Astraverse film as he did not let his faith waiver despite multiple delays and invested a hefty sum as a producer trusting Ayan’s vision.
After the grand box office success of the first part, Ayan will soon be starting work on Brahmastra 2. At the FICCI Frames Fast Track event, Karan talked about what made him greenlight the second instalment.
The producer-director said that he was not looking at the box office numbers but rather at the acceptance from the audience. “We were not looking at numbers of figures. We wanted people to accept this world because there is so much more to come. The numbers are very important, but to us, the most important thing is that we get to make part 2 and part 3. When we knew we were home for those important decisions for Brahmastra, that was it. You only make part 2 when part 1 gets love and accepted and that's what has happened,” he said.
Speaking about the budget of the adventure-fantasy film, he added, “The budget has not been broken down into film 1, film 2 or film 3. It is for the entire trilogy. Secondly, we were just looking for the initial acceptance of this universe and it happened to us on day 1, when we got the acceptance.”
Brahmastra is having a stellar run at the box office since the day of its release. After taking a record-breaking start, the film has now emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 and has gone past the Rs 250 crore mark.
