Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a minor girl died allegedly by suicide. Notably, the deceased was upset after a fight over a mobile phone with her elder sister. The incident took place in Kapra on August 15.

“The 17-year-old girl lived with her parents and sister at Kapra. She was upset after an argument with her elder sister over her newly bought mobile phone in the house after which she allegedly ended her life late in the night. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom,” police said.

The police are investigating the case. Meanwhile, the body was handed over to the family after an autopsy on August 16.

In a similar incident, recently, a minor girl (16) allegedly committed suicide after she was restricted from using a smartphone by her mother in Balikuti village of Odisha’s Balasore district. The deceased has been identified as Gitanjali Dalai. She was a student of Class 10.

According to police, the deceased allegedly consumed poison after she was barred from playing games on the smartphone. Gitanjali’s mother allegedly scolded her for continuously using the mobile phone and snatched it away from her.

"The minor girl, in an enraged state of mind, locked herself in a room and allegedly consumed poison. She was rushed to Baliapal hospital, where doctors declared her dead," police said. The police had registered an unnatural death case in this connection.
