Panipat: 40-year-old migrant labourer arrested for rape and murder of six-year-old girl

During questioning, the accused informed police on August 15 that he attracted the girl by pretending to purchase her cookies while she was playing in a park in Sector 29. According to police, the accused, Ishwar Singh is from Chamoli in Uttarakhand and has been residing in Panipat for the past 15 years.

Panipat: In yet another shocking incident, the body of a six-year-old girl was found in a secluded area near a drain in Haryana’s Panipat area. After the body was found, cops arrested a 40-year-old migrant labourer and booked him for the rape and murder of the child.
According to police, the accused, Ishwar Singh is from Chamoli in Uttarakhand and has been residing in Panipat for the past 15 years since he works at a Dhaba there, Hindustan Times reported.
As per police officials involved in the inquiry, the girl's post-mortem examination indicated that she was strangled to death after being raped.
During questioning, the accused informed police on August 15 that he attracted the girl by pretending to purchase her cookies while she was playing in a park in Sector 29.
He brought her to a remote location in Sector 25 and allegedly raped her before allegedly strangling her to death and fleeing the scene. During the inquiry, authorities obtained CCTV footage from adjacent sites where the accused was seen accompanying the girl, Hindustan Times reported.
Shashank Kumar Sawan, superintendent of police in Panipat, said the accused was apprehended and charged under Sections 302, 365, 376, and 201 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
Following the post-mortem examination, the corpse was returned to the deceased's family members. The suspect was brought before the court, which sentenced him to one day in police custody.
