Hyderabad: Predicting light to moderate rainfall for Hyderabad, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for the city on Tuesday. The weathermen asked the public to prepare for the rain and said that the city could receive rainfall between 0.10 mm and 2.40 mm till Wednesday morning.
Areas such as Chandrayangutta, Rajendranagar, Malakpet, LB Nagar, Charminar, Bandlaguda, and Yousufguda might witness rains between 2.50 mm to 15.50 mm, the IMD officials said. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to hover around 30 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius for the next two days, while the minimum temperature could be in the range of 22 degree Celsius to 23 degree Celsius, the forecast predicted.
The city is expected to see traffic snarls and low-lying regions likely to witness waterlogging. If the rain intensifies, water may enter into residential areas as well, the officials warned. Hyderabad witnessed heavy rainfall last week leading to severe waterlogging in many parts such as Ramanthapur, Osman Nagar and other places. However, there was no rain for the last four days.
The weather officials also predicted light to moderate rains for the entire state of Telangana for the next four days. The regional Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad has predicted heavy rains in Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanmakonda districts of Telangana state from September 20. Some districts are likely to experience thunder and lightning rains here and there.
According to weather officials, a low-pressure weather system would form in the Bay of Bengal, and due to its effect, moderate rain is expected in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
