Dera Bassi: Man beaten to death over daughter’s matrimonial dispute

A man in Mubarakpur died after being assaulted by a man during an argument that took place over his daughter’s matrimonial dispute. The accused was booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal code including Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Mubarakpur: A man identified as Mangal Singh died after being assaulted by a man during an argument over his daughter’s matrimonial dispute. The accused, Balkar Singh, an employee of the Zirakpur municipal council has been arrested, reported Hindustan Times.
According to the Mubarakpur police post in charge Kulwant Singh, Mangal’s daughter had recently married for the second time after separating from her first husband due to some dispute. However, her in-laws from the second marriage began harassing her following which Balkar was called in to mediate and settle the matter, as reported by the Hindustan Times.
Singh added that Mangal and Balkar met on Wednesday and during the course of their discussions during which Mangal accused the Balkar of habitually breaking ties. This led to a heated argument, during which Balkar assaulted Mangal and fled after he fell unconscious. Mangal was rushed to the civil hospital in Dera Bassi, where he was declared to have been brought dead, reported Hindustan Times.
Following a complaint by Mangal’s wife Radha, Balkar was booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal code including Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation). After being arrested Balkar was produced before a court which then remanded him to judicial custody, reported the Hindustan Times.
In another similarly shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his son-in-law by slitting his throat over harassment of his daughter. The horrific incident took place in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district.
Yousuf Khan was recognized as the accused, while Sai Baba was identified as the victim. Sai married Khan's daughter, Hasina ten years ago.
The incident occurred at Chittoor's Sankaraiah Gunta. Yousuf Khan is accused of slitting the victim's neck for reportedly harassing Hasina for numerous years. After Sai attacked her, Hasina went in with her parents, news outlet India Today reported.
On Saturday night, Sai Baba went to pick up Hasina from her parent's residence in an extremely drunk condition and an altercation between the family and Sai erupted. Khan allegedly assaulted him as the conversation heated up.
A case has been filed against the accused under relevant provisions of the IPC, and an investigation is currently being conducted.
