Mansa (Punjab): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hans Raj Hans met the family members of late Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala in Mansa district on Sunday.
The 28-year-old singer and Congress leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village in Mansa district of Punjab on May 29, a day after the Punjab government curtailed his security cover.
After meeting the family members of Moose Wala, the Northwest Delhi MP said he visited them as an “artist” and not for any “political” gain.
“I have not come here for any political reasons, I have come here as an artist and as a father,” told reporters.
On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also met the parents of the slain singer in Chandigarh.
Meeting the union minister, Moose Wala's father Balkaur Singh is learnt to have demanded a probe by central agencies into the brutal murder of his son.
Earlier, Moose Wala’s family had written a letter to Shah, seeking an investigation by central agencies into the murder case, according to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also visited the family of the singer at his residence in Mansa district. During the meeting, the chief minister assured his family that his killers would soon be put behind bars.
According to the autopsy report of Moose Wala, his body bore 19 bullet injury marks and he died within 15 minutes of being shot.
Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar has reportedly claimed responsibility for the murder of the singer in a Facebook post on Sunday evening.
Brar aka Satinder Singh is a close aide of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, who is also said to be involved in the singer’s murder.
However, Bishnoi has told the police that the Punjab singer was killed out of revenge, but he had no hand in it.
