A homeless man was left surprised when a kind barber gave him a free haircut.

Joshua Santiago, of Empowering Cuts, met the man on the street and gave him an amazing transformation.

He offers free makeovers to rough sleepers in the US.

"Everyone deserves to feel good about themselves," he wrote.

A video of the man looking away from the camera with a blank stare while sitting in a chair inside Joshua's mobile salon shows the transformation.

The man's face, looking tired, was covered by an overgrown beard and a thick moustache.

Joshua said that the man had not been washing his hair for days and was determined to give him a free haircut.

The homeless man opted for a buzz cut.

After the haircut, the man looked much younger.

The video has gone viral on social media. While many netizens loved the man's new look, others thanked Joshua for his kind gesture.

One user said, "He looks 20 years younger!" Another wrote, "What a difference a haircut can make."

A third added, "He ends up looking like some random character from a game, cool." Yet another commented, "You're such a blessing to these men, I drive public transport and was recently told by a homeless man that he feels overlooked and is used to it. It broke my heart, so thank you for making them feel cared about and looked upon."
