Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles, released on September 09. At the FICCI Frames Fast Track event held in Mumbai, filmmaker-producer Karan Johar opened up about his reaction to the initial reviews of the fantasy film.
The director said that while there were a couple of messages that were wonderful to read and it was heartening to see those reactions, he also received messages in the other extreme.
"And there were some messages that came in that were completely extreme and I felt like my blood pressure had dropped. I felt ‘Oh my God, what if we’ve gone completely wrong’. And this is something I couldn’t even share with Ayan or the team," said the director.
Karan said it felt like stress as a parent to the film. The producer added that he was stressed about the film's team, who have given their life to the film. "It wasn’t that I was crying, it was just that I could feel like this is really a big deal. It’s a new universe and there are going to be extreme reactions. But the film, just like the process, really fought at the box office," he said.
Apart from Alia and Ranbir, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva also co-stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shah Rukh Khan, Mouni Roy and Amitabh Bachchan in key roles. The film is performing extremely well at the box office and even weeks after its release, the film has maintained a strong hold at the box office. Furthermore, the next part of the Astraverse will revolve around the character of Dev.
