Bihar: Man brutally stabs transgender wife for singing celebratory songs in public

Riya Raj used to go to sing celebratory songs along with her other trans companions which her husband Anand did not like at all. He repeatedly forced her to quit this line of work. On the day of the incident, they had an argument after which he beat her up and stabbed her.

Siwan: A man attacked his transgender wife with a knife in the Siwan district of Bihar. They had an argument as even after his objections, the wife went to sing celebratory songs, usually exclusive to transgender persons in Indian society, by going to other people’s houses, local media reported.
There was a dispute about her singing songs traditional to trans persons, after which the husband first beat her up. When he was not satisfied with the beating, he attacked the wife three times with a knife in her stomach.
Local people took her to the hospital after the stabbing incident. The police arrested the husband Anand Kumar on Monday. The incident happened in the Maharajganj police station area.
About three years ago in 2019, Anand Kumar used to run a dance party in the Janta Bazar area of Chapra district. During this time, Anand fell in love with a transgender Riya Raj, a resident of Semaria, Chapra.
Later, both of them got married with each other's consent in court. Both of them lived in a rented house near the railway station. Gradually, there was a rift between Anand and his transgender wife Riya Raj over her sexuality.

Anand had also taken her to Delhi to get keep her away from that company. However, they could not live there for long and she ran away from there, back to the village.
