Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership has expanded the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) social and geographical landscape.
"PM Modi has made a significant contribution to the rise of BJP. In 2013, the BJP had four CMs of its own and one chief minister of the NDA alliance. Today, BJP has 12 CMs on its own and six chief ministers of allied parties. It offers a yardstick of how Prime Minister's leadership has expanded the saffron party's social and geographical landscape," Sarma said.
Speaking at the launch of the book 'Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery' in Guwahati, the Assam chief minister lauded PM Modi for the initiatives taken during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
"During his tenure as CM of Gujarat for over 12 years, PM Modi Ji transformed the state into a model of development by bringing qualitative change in every sector of the state. By becoming PM in 2014, he made the NDA government the first will full majority after three decades," Sarma said.
"What brought Modi ji to power is a matter of relentless pursuit for political analysts. There are many factors. It was because of a message taken to every street by millions of non-political volunteers besides BJP’s karyakartas (workers). It was due to the substance of Modi ji's message," he added.
Talking about the book, the Assam CM said it has several articles written by eminent personalities who have closely known PM Modi. "I request the publisher to translate this resourceful book into Assamese to make it convenient for people of Assam to know more about Modi ji's inspiring personality," he added.
