Final year medical student dies by suicide at house in Mumbai

​​Mumbai News: When her parents returned home, they found the body of their daughter hanging and immediately rushed her to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Mumbai: A final year medical student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in the Agripada area of Mumbai, police said on Saturday as reported by news agency ANI.
The student identified as Shreyasa Pathkar was a last year medical student in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Patkar hanged herself on Thursday afternoon when her family members were not at home.
However, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot, said police.
When her parents returned home, they found the body of their daughter hanging and immediately rushed her to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, police reached the spot and took the body in their possession. Later, the body was for post-mortem.
"We did not find any suicide note from the spot. Even the family members have not expressed any suspicion on anyone. We are investigating the matter," the police said as reported by ANI.
Meanwhile, Police have registered a case under Accidental Death Report (ADR) and started further investigation.
Two cases of suicide by medical students of two leading medical colleges of Mumbai have come to the fore in the last one month, reported ANI.
On September 18, a 28-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of a building along with her 6-year-old daughter in Mira Road in Mumbai.
The deceased identified as Rekha Devasi took her 6-year-old daughter Ankita committed suicide after jumping off the terrace of the building. The deceased used to live with her husband and two children in the same building, said police.
Police further said that they did not recover any suicide note, reported ANI.
