The Hindi dubbed version of Nikhil Siddhartha's Karthikeya 2 has managed to give tough competition to Bollywood biggies such as Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan. Now, it seems that the hugely successful run of Karthikeya 2 in North India could spell trouble for Taapsee Pannu's Dobaaraa as well.
Amid growing collection of Karthikeya 2, it seems that the audience may be more prone towards watching the fantasy adventure than Taapsee's flick. The film has shown immense growth at the box office, starting from Rs 7 lakh on its debut to Rs 28 lakh, Rs 1.10 crore and Rs 1.28 crore respectively.

Dobaara is slated for release on August 19 and as per trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal, exhibitors are prefering Nikhil's film over the Anurag Kashyap directorial. Rohit took to Twitter to share, "Exhibitors in Hindi belt preferring #Karthikeya2 over #Dobaaraa from coming Friday, They are more interested in #Karthikeya2Hindi because of content & word of mouth, whereas Dobaaraa stands almost no chance to either perform or even take a decent opening."

Similarly, trade expert Sumit Kadel too opened up about Taapsee Pannu's film's opening day and lifetime collection, writing, "BOX OFFICE PREDICTION #Dobaaraa - Opening day- Rs 20 -35 lakh, Lifetime - Rs 1.25- 1.50 cr."
Earlier, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh and tweeted about the success of Karthikeya 2, writing, "#Karthikeya2 [#Hindi] is akin to sunshine in an otherwise gloomy scenario... Day-wise growth is an eye-opener... Sat 7 lacs, Sun 28 lacs, Mon 1.10 cr [holiday], Tue 1.28 cr [partial holiday]. Total: Rs 2.73 cr. #India biz. HINDI version."
For the unversed, the film is a sequel to the 2014 Karthikeya and stars Nikhil Siddhartha, Anupama Parameswaran, and Anupam Kher. The film sees Nikhil essay the role of Dr Karthikeya, who believes in science and logic and goes to the ancient city of Dwaraka, where he gets embroiled in the murder case of an archaeological researcher.
