Nilgai meat allegedly being served in Jaipur hotels; two poacher women held

The gang of these women were hunting Nilgai with a gun in Arnia village of Srimadhopur. During interrogation, the arrested women told the police that they used to supply meat to the hotels of Jaipur and Chaumu. Two to three such hotels in Chaumu and one hotel near Panipech in Jaipur have come to light in the matter.

Jaipur: Nilgai meat is allegedly being served in the name of mutton in Jaipur hotels, local media reported. The Forest Department team has made this shocking revelation. According to the officials, two women poachers have been arrested.
They work with a whole active gang of poachers, smugglers, and meat suppliers. At present, their husbands are also absconding. They first hunted Nilgai, then transported meat to the hotels of Jaipur and Chaumu, Dainik Bhaskar reported.
A case of Nilgai poaching has come to the fore in Shrimadhopur as well. The arrested women said during interrogation that they used to bite the hunted Nilgai in the dark of night. After this, the meat was supplied to big cities like Jaipur and Chaumu.

Goat meat or mutton is sold for Rs 500-700 a kg. The hoteliers used to buy Nilgai meat at Rs 100 per kg and mix it with goat meat and serve it to the customers as mutton.
Regional Forest Officer Devendra Singh Rathod was reported saying by Dainik Bhaskar that on Friday evening, some youths were playing in the river area. During this, they found a dead Nilgai.
Upon examining closely, it was found that the Nilgai was shot. The youths informed the same to the village head. The Sarpanch informed the Shrimadhopur Forest Department. The team reached the spot at night, hid near the river and caught the poachers red-handed.
