Ghaziabad: Yati Narsinghanand, who is known for his controversial remarks, has come under the police scanner after a video surfaced in which he is seen urging people to boycott the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and calling Hindus “hypocrites.”
In the viral video, the priest of Devi Mandir of Dasna town is seen questioning the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and urging the people to boycott it.
Yati is also heard saying that the government has given the contract to a West Bengal-based company to manufacture flags on a mass scale. The company is owned by a Muslim person named Salauddin, he said, adding that the money used to buy tricolours will be donated to ‘Jihadis’.
“When these people came in power they awarded government tenders to Muslims. The money which Hindus will pay to buy tricolour would be pocketed by a Muslim and that will be donated to ‘Jihadis’,” he purportedly said in the video.
He further said that Hindus are the “biggest hypocrites in the world.”
In his message, he urged Hindus that if they want to save their coming generations from Muslim militants then they must boycott the tricolour campaign of the BJP and prevent Muslims from financially benefitting from it.
Hindus can hoist any old flag from their rooftops, he said.
According to reports, the video was uploaded earlier this month but it was widely circulated in the past couple of days.
The police have taken cognizance of the video and is looking into it. Appropriate legal action would be taken accordingly, police said.
The BJP-led central government has envisaged ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to encourage people to bring the Tricolor home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence between August 13 and 15. ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is an initiative of the Centre to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.
