Amitabh Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda recently called it a sign of progress, being able to discuss menstruation on a public forum in the presence of her grandfather. Navya is the daughter of Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda. Navya also said that she grew up in a home where she felt comfortable having these conversations which are otherwise considered taboo.
Navya Naveli Nanda recently attended a telethon about health alongside Amitabh Bachchan, dia Mirza and Rashmika Mandanna. The telethon saw experts discussing women's health and how it can be elevated. After Rashmika said that teens often feel uncomfortable discussing taboo topics with their parents, Amitabh Bachchan agreed, stating that he considers menstruation a 'sign of recreation'.
As per a report in Hindustan Times, speaking at the event, Navya agreed with her grandfather and said, "Like he mentioned, it's a sign of life. That's not something that we should be ashamed of, or shy away from. Menstruation has been a taboo for a long time, but there has been progress. I’m sitting on stage today with my grandfather and talking about periods, and that itself is a sign of progress. The fact that we are sitting on a platform today with many people watching us and having an open conversation about menstruation itself shows that we have progressed, not just as women but as a country."
Navya went on to add that it is great that not just women, but men too have also joined in the mission of destigmatising conversation around menstruation. She added that women should feel comfortable and safe about their own bodies in their own homes before going out in society and taking about it.
Navya recently took to Instagram and shared a video from her visit to a Durga puja pandal.
She captioned her post, "Subho Bijoya Dashami & "Joys Chat Pata Corner"." In the video, the diva can be seen playing dhaak and dancing. One can also see her serving food to devotees. For the outing, the star kid opted to wear an easy-breezy white kurta.
