Kanyakumari: As the Congress party's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is going on in full swing, an amusing incident took place on the third day of the Yatra in Tamil Nadu when local women MGNREGA workers offered to marry him off to a Tamil girl. Notably, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi met with women MGNREGA workers in Kanyakumari's Marthandam on Saturday afternoon. One lady said they know RG loved Tamil Nadu and they’re ready to get him married to a Tamil girl, noted Congress leader Jairam Ramesh calling it a 'hilarious moment'.
"Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with women MGNREGA workers in Marthandam this afternoon, one lady said they know RG loved Tamil Nadu and they’re ready to get him married to a Tamil girl! RG looks most amused & the photo shows it!" tweeted Jairam Ramesh.
Notably, protesting against inflation and unemployment, the Congress party launched a 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', which is slated to go on for five months, completing over 3000km journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' was officially flagged off by Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday and began on Thursday morning from Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari.
On Friday, during the Yatra, Rahul Gandhi during yesterday's rally, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central government over price rise, inflation and employment. "India now faces a bankruptcy of vision for what the future of our country should be. We are for corporate India. We are against the idea of massive monopolies. We are against unfairness, be it against farmers or MSMEs. We will act to ensure fairness prevails," he said.
On Thursday, the Congress leader accused the BJP-RSS of trying to divide the country into religious lines and stressed that he will not lose his country to hate. "The problem is that they do not understand the Indian people. Indian people do not get scared. Does not matter how many hours of interrogation they do, does not matter. Not a single Opposition leader is going to be scared of the BJP," Gandhi noted.
The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' entered its Kerala leg today.
