Chennai: In a highly bizarre incident, a dead woman returned back, a day after her cremation. The incident occurred in Chennai where an elderly woman, Chandra (72) returned back to her family next day after she was buried following all rituals.
A septuagenarian was believed to be killed in a train accident and the family members had performed the final rites, Oneindia reported.
The woman, who resides in Ambedkar Nagar in Guduvanchery with her son Vadivelu, had left home on September 20. The woman had said that she was going to a nearby temple and will return in sometime. However, she did not return home. Worried about her, the family members filed a formal missing complaint with the local police station.
The police team during an investigation found a dead body of an elderly woman near a railway track. The son then identified the woman as his mother and the body was handed over to him.
The body was buried in Guduvancherry. On September 22, the family was performing a special pooja when Chandra returned home to their pleasant shock.
Later, it was realised then that it was a case of mistaken identity. Vadivelu wrongly identified the deceased as his mother owing to similarity in the color of the saree. The face of the woman was crushed which added more to the confusion.
Meanwhile, the body, which was buried by the family, was exhumed and sent to the Chromepet GH to identify the real identity of the deceased. The investigation is on.
