Kolkata: Amid ongoing cases against him and a massive overhaul of over Rs 50 crore from premises linked to him and his aides, former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee's modus operandi has been revealed by an ex-party colleague. Baisakhi Banerjee, TMC leader and the former General Secretary of West Bengal College and Universities Professors' Association (WBCUPA), on Thursday said that during Chatterjee's term as the minister, every post in the college university carried a price tag. She further added that those, who could not even teach in schools, entered the university through Partha Chatterjee's push.
"It was strange to see student leaders coming from an ordinary background becoming powerful and strong names in the education sector. There was a syndicate working inside the West Bengal College University Professors Association (WBCUPA) which added a price tag to the college university sub-post where every post was on sale. Those who could not teach even in school entered the university directly with Partha Chatterjee's push," Banerjee told news agency ANI.
Underqualified thieves were getting jobs
"Underqualified thieves were getting jobs because of Partha Chatterjee," she further added. Banerjee said that it was Chatterjee who pulled her into politics by saying that there was corruption in the system and women from good family like hers were needed in politics. Alleging that the now-expelled TMC leader 'did not consider anyone above himself', Banerjee said that her political career started at the hands of Chatterjee in 2016.
Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged SSC scam. The ED sleuths recovered a whopping Rs 50 crore in unaccounted cash and assets from various premises linked to Chatterjee. Shortly later, he was stripped of his portfolios and removed from the TMC.
