KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Ravindra Jadeja was not named in the Indian playing XI for the 3rd ODI.
  • Earlier, all-rounder Jadeja sustained a knee injury.
  • The BCCI has revealed why Jadeja was not available for selection.
Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was expected to make his return to the One Day International (ODI) side after missing the first two games of the ongoing white-ball series between Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India and the West Indies. One of the finest all-rounders across all formats of the game, all-rounder Jadeja was earlier ruled out of the first two ODIs against the West Indies after sustaining an injury to his right knee.
The medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been monitoring Jadeja's progress ever since the all-rounder sustained an injury to his right knee. Though Jadeja had an outside chance of making it to the playing XI for the third and final ODI of the three-match series, star spinner and middle-order batter Jadeja has been ruled out of the dead rubber prior to the start of the contest at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.
According to the BCCI, Jadeja was not available for selection for the 3rd ODI because the star all-rounder is still recovering from his injury. The apex cricket board of India confirmed that Jadeja is still not 100 percent and the medical team will continue to monitor his progress. Talking about the 3rd ODI between India and the West Indies, stand-in skipper Dhawan won the toss and the visitors have opted to bat first in the final encounter of the bilateral series.
Team India have made a single change to their playing XI for the 3rd ODI. "We will bat first. We will like to post a good score. The best thing is everything is performing, nice to see that. That's a big positive for us, happy with that. I feel that intent is important, but at the same time you need to be smart. Dravid is doing a good job, the more the players will play, the better they will get. We got one change. Prasidh comes in for Avesh Khan," Indian skipper Dhawan said after winning the toss.
India's playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan(c), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson(w), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna.
