Elon Musk bought Twitter for ex-wife Talulah Riley? Here's what billionaire's texts, made public, reveal

New Delhi: Scores of text messages between world's richest billionaire Elon Musk and his contacts were made public last week as part of ongoing litigation with Twitter Inc. Some of them revealed that Musk, who has yet again proposed to buy the social media platform, often chatted with Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, whom he named - JackJack.

Other texts have shed light of messages from someone named ‘TJ’, who asked the Tesla boss to buy Twitter and then delete it. According to people in the know quoted by Fortune, TJ is Musk’s ex-wife Talulah Riley. The English actress and writer’s middle name is Jane, which could have led to the 'TJ' nickname.

Musk had first announced Twitter’s takeover bid April this year and the leaked messages show that TJ messaged the billionaire on March 23 asking him, “Can you buy Twitter and then delete it, please!? Xx.” She was apparently concerned about woke-ism as she wrote in one of the messages, “Please do something to fight woke-ism. I will do anything to help! xx.”

The messages further reveal that Riley was especially concerned about the suspension of the Babylon Bee satire site’s Twitter account, calling it “crazy” in a text to her ex-husband. “Raiyah and I were talking about it today,” she wrote. “It was a f–king joke. Why has everyone become so puritanical?”

It is worth mentioning here that the Tesla chief polled his followers about free speech shortly after the Bee’s suspension, the Fortune report said.

Musk and Riley have been married twice. They first walked down the aisle in 2010 and divorced in 2012 and reunited in 2013. This time they divorced three years later in 2016.

Meanwhile, the richest billionaire has once again proposed to buy Twitter at $54.20 per share. Musk had first launched a $44-billion hostile takeover bid to take Twitter private in April, only to back out of the deal in July.

He cancelled the deal citing lack of data on the number of spam, bot or fake accounts on the platform while Twitter contended that less than 5 per cent accounts on the site are bots.
