India suffered a heartbreak in the Mixed Team badminton final as Malaysia handed them a 3-1 defeat. Though the Indian team could only manage a silver medal from the event, shuttlers would be looking to make amends in their individual events, starting Thursday.

The likes of Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen will begin their Men's Singles campaign while PV Sindhu and Aakarashi Kashyap will be in action looking to go all the way in the Women's Singles event.

Sindhu had done well in the Mixed Team badminton final against Malaysia as well. In fact, she was the only Indian shuttler to have bagged a victory in the contest. In her Round of 32 women's singles match, Sindhu will square-off against Abdul Razzaq of Maldives.

Aakarshi Kashyap, on the other hand, would look to get the better of Pakistan's Mahoor Shahzad. Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will be up against Vernon Smeed and Daniel Wanagaliya in their respective men's singles Round of 32 matches.

B. Sumeeth Reddy/Ashwini Ponnappa are also scheduled to take on Callum Hemming/Jessica Pugh of England today.
