Having been in the industry for years, actor Ranbir Kapoor has delivered several hit performances. From Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year to Rockstar and Tamasha, the actor's filmography boasts of challenging roles. For Ranbir, however, a part of his dream is also to play a negative role on the screen.
In the third episode of RK Tapes titled The Villain, the actor talks in length about his favourite villains of all time.
Ranbir lists the names of Amjad Khan as Gabbar Singh in Sholay, Amrish Puri as Mogambo in Mr India, Sanjay Dutt as Kancha Cheena in Agneepath, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat and Shah Rukh Khan in Darr among others.
The actor then talks about his childhood dream of not just playing a hero, but also a villain. "We invariably side with the hero. But if there was no villain for the hero to show his heroism, how would a hero be a hero? I have a dream that once I will do a negative role and people will tell their kids ‘so jaa, so jaa nahi toh Ranbir aa jayega!’ As our cinema evolves, the villain’s character too is becoming more and more complex and interesting. I’m looking forward to the bad guys we are yet to watch, to the actors who will scare us out of our seats and to the villains that will redefine evil," said the actor.
Ranbir also talked about Sanjay Dutt playing the antagonist in their upcoming film Shamshera. The actor heaped praise on Sanjay Dutt and also said he is one of the best villains of recent times, adding that he is the ultimate Khalnaayak. The actor also added that he is a bit envious of Sanjay Dutt for he wishes to play his role.
Shamshera is slated for a release on July 22. The BTS photos, the first look posters and the film's trailer have already piqued the fans' excitement for the YRF-backed film.
