Patna: Former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has betrayed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav by keeping both the Finance and Home portfolios with Janata Dal (United).
In addition, the Rajya Sabha MP criticised the Bihar CM for keeping "bahubalis" like Surendra Yadav, Ramanand Yadav, and Lalit Yadav in the Cabinet.
"What message does Nitish Kumar want to give by keeping people like Surendra Yadav, Ramanand Yadav and Lalit Yadav in the Cabinet? Nitish Kumar cleverly kept both Home and Finance portfolios with JD(U) and betrayed Tejashwi Yadav too," news agency ANI mentioned Modi as saying.
Meanwhile, Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted:
As portfolios were allocated on Tuesday in the new Cabinet, Nitish Kumar retained the crucial Home department, granting him direct control over the state police.
Furthermore, Kumar has retained general administration, cabinet secretariat, election, and "any other departments not assigned to others", as per an official communication.
Health, Road Construction, Urban Housing and Development, and Rural Works have been assigned to Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.
Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder brother of Tejashwi Yadav, has been given the task of handling the Environment, Forest and Climate Change department.
Besides the CM and Deputy CM, only Vijay Kumar Chaudhary (Finance, Commercial Tax and Parliamentary Affairs) and Bijendra Yadav (Power, Planning and Development) are tasked with more than one portfolio.
